PGT-A

PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy)

PGT-A is an advanced genetic test performed on embryos during the IVF process. Its purpose is to check whether the embryo has the correct number of chromosomes. Having too many or too few chromosomes (a condition called aneuploidy) can reduce the chances of implantation, increase the risk of miscarriage, or lead to genetic conditions. Here’s how it works: once embryos are developed in the lab, a few cells are gently taken from each embryo for analysis. This testing does not harm the embryo. Only embryos with a normal chromosome number are chosen for transfer, which improves the chances of a healthy pregnancy and reduces the risk of miscarriage.
PGT-A is especially beneficial for couples where the woman is of advanced maternal age, those who have experienced recurrent pregnancy loss, couples with multiple failed IVF attempts, or those with a history of chromosomal issues. At Sunanda IVF, we recommend PGT-A only when it can truly improve outcomes, helping to ensure the safest path toward a healthy pregnancy.
